Why Every Explorer Should Have A GoTenna
Being avid campers, hikers, and travelers we’re always looking for technology to make our lives easier. That’s why when we were introduced to GoTenna, we fell in love with the ability to use GPS without the internet.
The GoTenna device pairs with your smartphone via Bluetooth and allows you to communicate by text message and GPS location to others without a cell signal. Our Experience With GoTenna
Hiking & Camping
Kallsy and I tend to enjoy taking the path less traveled when hiking and most of the time it’s proven to be worth it. However, there have been times when we’ve gotten lost and thus, our GoTenna has come to the rescue and it’s handy ability to use GPS without the internet.
Once we were hiking up Taum Sauk Mountain in Missouri and wandered from each other. Cell service was spotty and we were trying to find a waterfall that we had seen online (little did we know the water was dried up so no waterfall would be found). We used our GoTenna devices to stay in touch while on the trail.
Crowded Cities
If you’ve ever been to a music festival or crowded city you’ll know that even with tons of cell towers, cell service can be a bust. We’ve parted ways while finding parking, grabbing a seat at a local bar or dining establishment, and have used our GoTenna devices to send a quick text to each other.
Do you travel frequently? Enjoy hiking or camping? Visit crowded cities where cell service becomes limited? If you said yes to any of these questions a GoTenna would be perfect for your lifestyle!
So what do you think? How could you benefit from having a GoTenna that allows you to use GPS without the internet?
Disclaimer: We received two GoTenna devices in exchange for our honest review. As always opinions are our own.

Wow!! That thing looks awesome. I had never even heard of a goTenna before now. We are huge hikers too and travel in our travel trailer to a lot of places that don’t get good service. This would be a lifesaver! Thanks for sharing!

Never seen this device before but it looks great – I’m so often hiking in places with little reception, it would come in really handy. I’ll soon be overloading in Africa so will definitely be looking into if it will work there. Thanks for sharing

This was very interesting! I don’t think I have ever heard of this device. For the maps I usually use Google Maps saved offline, but for text messaging this could be very very good! Especially on hiking since you never know when you need help.

That is such a handy device! I like the fact that no batteries are needed and you don’t need a WIFI signal to download maps. We may consider these should we go camping or have an adventure soon!
